MATCH PREVIEW: Accra Hearts of Oak will play as guests of Techiman City in the match-day 7 of the 2016 Ghana Premier League on Sunday, 10th April, 2016.

The Phobians lost for the first time in the season, falling to a 1-3 defeat at home to Wa AllStars, but they will be hoping to bounce back against a Techiman side that are yet to lose at home.

Hearts switched places with Wa AllStars on the league log in the last match-day, with the Rainbow club dropping to second-place, a point behind the Wa side, heading into the match-day 7.

Techiman City also earned their first away point of the season, twice taking the lead against Edubiase United at the Len Clay, before failing to hold on in the last few minutes of the game.

Despite dropping two points from winning position, the draw goes down as the club’s first ever away point in the league after three away matches.

The “Citizens” have accounted for two big scalps already in the fledgling season, beating regional rivals and seasoned Premier League campaigners, Berekum Chelsea and Aduana Stars by a lone goal each at home. Dreams FC were also beaten by the same score-line at the home of Techiman City.

Also, City have won 50% of their games so far, and all have come at home, but they ended their back-to-back away defeats, by snatching a point at the home of Edubiase. They will be buoyed by that point and will be aiming to add Hearts to their list of casualties at home.

However, Kenichi Yatsuhashi’s side have also been compact on the road. The Phobians have won two out of their three away games of the season, and they will be hoping to make it three out of four come Sunday.

Hearts beat Medeama 0-2 at the TNA in the team’s first away trip of the season, but although they were held to a draw by J.E Sarpong’s then bottom of the table side Ebusua Dwarfs, Kenichi’s side produced a moment of magic to comeback from two goals down to beat Inter Allies in Tema.

The Phobians were shot down by Wa AllStars, in a game they were mostly second best, but Kenichi believes his have their confidence levels intact and have fixed the problems that cost them the points last Sunday.

“No, our confidence is not down at all because we lost one game. Let’s say if we play our best game and then we lost; then I think we will lose confidence. But it is not like we played our best game against AllStars and lost. We had problems but it was not physical problems or mental problems. We had other problems to fix and we fixed it and we are 100% and we are confident.”

Hearts have been boosted by the return of Soulama Abdoulaye and Foovi Aguidi and they will provide the technical team with more options going into Sunday’s game.
Meanwhile, Musah Inusah and Paul Acquah have both joined full training, but whereas the latter is closer to a first team return, Inusah has a few more sessions to catch-up on.

The Phobians have never met Techiman City in the Premier League, but the last time Hearts faced a debuting side from Brong Ahafo Region, they beat them (Bechem United) by a lone goal courtesy a Thomas Abbey strike.
Something has got to give on Sunday; Hearts have not lost on the road whereas Techiman City are unbeaten at home. Trust Kenichi’s side to bring the points back to the capital.

MATCH FACTS: From the last 10 games Hearts have played away to Brong Ahafo sides in the league, the Phobians have won two, drawn three, and lost five times. Within the period, Hearts have scored seven goals and conceded 12 away to sides from the Brong Ahafo Region.

Hearts launches Ghana’s first Schools Football Clinic

As part of Accra Hearts of Oak’s school project to unearth future dye-in-the-wool supporters for the club, Hearts paid a visit to Accra New Town Basic 6 & 8 Primary School this morning to launch the club’s and Ghana’s first Schools Football Clinic.

Head Coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi, Corporate Affairs and Marketing Manager Joe Addo, vice-captain Owusu Bempah, and Mustapha Essuman and Sarbah Laryea were at the New Town Basic 6 & 8 School to socialize and council the students of the school.

The meeting was a very positive one as the students and the school teachers warmly welcomed the club to their school. Mr. Albert Adeku, Assistant Headteacher and Sports Teacher, ushered the club into the school.

The Hearts representatives took turns to talk to the children and educate them on ways of living a good and healthy life.

They also used the platform to share the rich history of the club with the school children in an effort to instill the love for the team at an early stage.

Coach Kenichi’s predilection for children was at full display as he modestly came down to the level of the school children and answered questions from them.

In fact, a child asked how he could be a good coach like Hearts’ gaffer, and Kenichi’s response was that the boy should take his lessons seriously.

He also encouraged all the students to take their books seriously and asked them to be disciplined at all times by listening to instructions from their teachers.

Hearts Deputy Captain Owusu Bempah was also in a jovial mood as most of the school children recognized him as the captain of the national U20 side.

Mustapha Essuman and Sarbah Laryea had to relinquish the invisible wall they create on the field by allowing the children to run through them during the practice exercise.

Essuman was asked how many games he had clocked in his stints abroad, but his sweet answer had something to do with long division which really amused the children.
His midfield counterpart Laryea was not left out, as he also charged the students not to play with their books.
Corporate Affairs Manager was also at home with the school children and it was a delight to see him lecturing in the classroom.
Hearts will take the next community programme to Adabraka and later Mamprobi.

MTN to consider sponsoring Ghana Premier League.

Ghana’s leading telecommunication network MTN will consider sponsoring the Ghana Premier League should a proposal be submitted by the Ghana Football Association.

The domestic top-flight is without a sponsor after Capital Bank abrogated its deal with the Nation’s Football governing body prior to the start of the season.
Capital Bank had hinted its decision to suspend the sponsorship deal following the low mileage received during the 2014/15 League season.

The Ghana Football Association has since been in hunt for a new sponsor for the League.

Noel Kojo Ganson, acting Chief Marketing Officer at MTN in an interview with Starr FM claimed his outfit will consider sponsoring the League once a proposal is made.

“When it comes up, we will look at it. Some of the discussions will come up and when it comes up, we will look at it,” Ganson told Starr FM.

“We will measure the benefits and since football is one of our pillars, we will look at the opportunities that are available once an approach.”
The Ghana Premier League enters the fifth week with interesting pairings.
