Accra Hearts of Oak midfielder Mustapha Essuman insists all the defeats suffered at the hands of Medeama are in the past and that the team is determined to end their winless run against the Tarkwa-side on Sunday.
The Phobians will play as guests of Medeama SC on Sunday in the match-day 2 of the 2016 Ghana Premier League season. Hearts have gone seven league games without a win over Medeama, having lost three and drawn four from the period.
And, they have never beaten Medeama at the Tarkwa and Aboso Park in any competition.
But midfielder Mustapha Essuman believes the team is determined to reverse that trend on Sunday.
“We have prepared enough for the game. All the boys are very serious and are doing very well. I think we are going to do well [on Sunday against Medeama],” Essuman told Accraheartsofoak.com.
“We saw Medeama beat us in the Ghalca Six. But since we have seen them and they have seen us, I think it will be a good game. We are fully prepared and we are going to do our best at their home. We are not scared because I believe our boys are ready for the game.
“We are not focusing too much on the past fixtures; they beat us in the G6 but that is past. We are going
forward and so we are determined to win and do well against Medeama.
“I will not want to comment on our past fixtures [or that they always win when it matters against us], but those games are in the past.
This year is different and [it’s a new season] so it’s going to be a very different game.”
He added: “We are taking it one game at a time. We have not set any targets or saying ‘we are going to win the league or that’ but we are just taking it one game at a time.”
